Originally built to demonstrate 3D Perspective modelling in a confined space (a typical layout board of 10 x 4 feet) by modeller Paul Bumbrick for the Warley 2023 show – and cover feature for Model Rail 283 in June 2024 – “Artist’s Valley” under Craig Owen has been brought into operation to showcase his colourful collection of locos and stock from across railway history. This quintessentially British timeless scene migrates geographic setting over each running session, from the Welsh Marches to Dorset, the Chilterns or South Downs, or even north to the Peak District or Perthshire Hills, and yet still looks just right.
