Eastgate Harbour (OO)

4mm/OO Gauge
Presented by Robin Brogden

Eastgate Harbour is a 4mm/foot DCC layout of a fictional port located on the English Channel coast of Kent.  The model was inspired by Folkestone Harbour Station, but although it includes some of the features of that station, there the resemblance ends.

The layout is set around 1946/47; the war is over though there is still a military presence in the area.  The Southern Railway is still very much in charge, but not for much longer.

The port is very active with a SR Steamer Service operated by the fictitious TS LEEDS CASTLE, which at 42” scale length makes a very scenic addition to the quayside.

The 2 Platform Station is in Art deco style typical of the Southern Railway design.  The adjoining Customs House and the stone-built quay, at the end of which is a lighthouse.  The over-head gantry crane is a feature of the quay which has all the atmosphere of a small but busy port.  The Inner Harbour is home to the local fishing fleet and typical quayside building, pubs, chandlers, etc.
